Emergency Supply for DSP
Quick access to your regular medication when you need it most, even if you don’t have a prescription.
What is an Emergency Supply?
If you run out of your regular medication and cannot get a new prescription in time, we may be able to help. Our pharmacy can provide an emergency supply of your medicine, even without a prescription, as long as certain conditions are met.
Who Can Request This?
You may be able to request an emergency supply if you:
- Are registered patients with our pharmacy
- Have run out of their regular medication
- Cannot contact their GP (e.g., it's out of hours, bank holidays, or weekends)
- Have evidence of a previous prescription (e.g., empty packaging, NHS app, patient record)
What We Need From You:
To assess your request, we may need:
- The name and strength of your medication
- Your usual dosage and how often you take it
- The reason you need an emergency supply
- Proof of previous prescriptions, such as your NHS Summary Care Record or prescription history
- Your NHS number, if you have it
**Please note any supply or no supply made by the pharmacist will be clinically assessed in accordance with their clinical judgement and regulatory requirement. Any non-supply will be notified to patient and where appropriate signpost will be made. Schedule 1, 2 or 3 controlled drugs.
